Few days ago India's Telecomm. And I.T. minister Kapil Sibbal announced cheapest tablet of India which has been developed by IIT team  and aims at providing internet connectivity to all the students across the nation.
The 7 inch Tablet powered by android 2.2 version looks impressive and has been priced very low. It has been priced INR 2500-3000/- and it is available at 50 % subsidy for students .
The price is unbelievable. The tablet is developed by Datawind Ltd.

Updated (7th jan 2012) :
Recently an Updated and advanced version of the Aakash tablet is launched that is known as Ubislate 7+ version of aakash tablet. It has overcomed some limitatons of older versions.

Whats new in Ubislate 7 +(Upgraded version of Aakash Tablet):
1. Powered by Andriod 2.3 version. Earlier one comes with Andriod 2.2  version.
2. Battery of 3200 mAh. Thus increasing the battery running time.
3. Powered by Cortex A8 processor of 700 Mhz.
4. Price increased by Rs 499 It is available for Rs 2999/-.
5.Network :-Wifi and GPRS (using SIM card).

Update 17 th November , 2012 

Well after  Aakash 1 which was not liked much by Indian Students and Consumers , recently Aakash 2 was launched that has 7 inch capacitive Touch  with 512 MB RAM nad 1 Ghz Processor , 4GB internal memory   and runs on Android 4.0. So there is significant improvement in Performance.

Price of aakash 2 is Rs 4300 for Wi-fi version while Rs 5000 for Wi-Fi and GPRS version. It is available at Subsidized Price of Rs 1100 to Indian Universities  and School Students.

We will soon Review this Product , The Big Question is Whether it will reach the Sky or not?
